Follow up to Around America Project announced

BROOKLYN, NY —New York City officials have confirmed that Matthew Danzico has unveiled his plans after he completes his hugely popular Around America in 2.0 (AA2.0) project.  The new venture, tentatively titled Around Bedford 0.1, has stirred quite a buzz in the greater Williamsburg, Brooklyn area. Unlike AA2.0, in which generosity is the theme, Around Bedford 0.1 will test the nonchalance of the enormously hip blocks of Bedford Avenue between Broadway and McCarren Park.

His plan this time around? To scour every designer thrift shop, Thai restaurant, and luxury condo office through the acclaimed region of America. Danzico plans on wandering through the busy strip with no money, simply relying on snooping in conversations and occasional text messages.
In an exclusive interview with Danzico, he commented on why he announced Around Bedford 0.1 before he even started Around America 2.0. “Well, you know, I just wanted to make sure the bloggers know how I fresh I really am. After AA2.0, it only makes alphabetical sense to do AB0.1”. Regardless of his intent, Matthew Danzico is going to test the hipness of strangers when he embarks on a journey around the neighborhood.

Another goal is to resolve what he says is a burning question: "Is a cultural-flattening phenomenon occurring among America's youth?" Mr. Danzico said. "Is American Apparel really that different from Old Navy?" Many who are ready to assist in the journey have already started participating, Mr. Danzico said. "People have been ignoring me in amazing numbers." Current Williamsburg resident Mark Baltrusaitis casually muttered, “Yea, I guess I can avoid him if I’m not too busy listening to the new TV on the Radio at Sound Fix that day.”

Many speculate how Danzico manages to endure the arduous “Liberal Belt” section of Bedford, which is home to the ridiculously progressive Spoonbill and Sugartown bookseller and the fashionably euro Fabiane café. Danzico exclaimed, “What the fuck?! I just got a new pair of Chucks and subscription to Harpers.” Many experts believe that Danzico’s backup plan is to sneak into the overtly friendly Tasty Delight or comfortably corporate Subway Sandwich shop.

Rumors have been circulating that Danzico even threw out his trusty Mets hat and purchased a San Francisco Giants hat to score more “obscure reference” points with the sophisticated “Billyburg” crowd. Brooklyn residents have even confirmed that Danzico slept with the hat on to wake up with the perfect bed head. Chirag Patel, Danzico's neighbor, stated “I saw him stomping on the Giants hat around the corner to give it a childhood hat feel when nobody was looking”

"Basically, it's organized loafing," Mr. Danzico said. "I posted video on three different sites asking people to come snub me at three different places." During the 8-hour excursion, he will film the experience while traveling through such establishments as Read Café, Anna Maria’s pizza, and Videology. A foreign correspondent who works out of the New York City bureau of Tokyo Shimbun, a Japanese newspaper, Mr. Danzico plans to report his experience and document his travels in real time with guitar and a notebook. “Some really good indie lyrics will come out this”, Danzico promises.

"The project is part of a broader analysis of online trust and connectivity," he said. What Mr. Danzico wants to understand, he said, is whether brief interactions and common shaggy haircuts transform into physical trust.  The idea for the trip was formed during a night with YouTube that Danzico had on a bored Friday night. "That Hipster Olympics thing was kinda pointless too. We live in the communication and industrial age and I knew it could be done."

Mr. Danzico said he calculated the need for about 23 snubs and began a summertime solicitation of those willing to provide their services. "I've gotten some real interesting proposals," he said. "Some guy wants to accidentally bump into me on his bike on N. 7th St. Another guy wants take the worn-out T-shirt off my back,  and an artist has invited me to subversively gloat about what the life of a misunderstood painter is really about."

The possible dangers of meeting and making eye contact with strangers has not deterred Mr. Danzico, but has concerned his father, Louis. "I don’t support Matthew in this endeavor in any way," Louis Danzico said. "I truly believe he is a damn fool."
